Penberthy Boulevard will be widened from two lanes to four from George Bush Drive to John Kimbrough Boulevard. This will improve traffic flow on west campus during peak hours and events and will provide an alternate route when TxDOT construction begins on the Bush-Wellborn Crossing in 2027.

Roadway Widening

Penberthy Boulevard will be widened from two lanes to four from George Bush Drive to John Kimbrough Boulevard.

In anticipation of future regional projects, Penberthy Boulevard will have increased capacity through the expansion from two lanes to four lanes of travel.

This section of Penberthy Blvd. will be widened to four lanes.

Multiuse Pathways

Multiuse pathways and street lighting will also be added.

The west side of Penberthy Boulevard will feature a 20-foot multiuse path for wheeled devices and pedestrians.

The east side of Penberthy Boulevard will feature a 15-foot multiuse path designed with enhanced safety features at parking lot drive lanes to heighten driver awareness to watch for pedestrians and cyclists on the path.

This project includes lighted paths for increased visibility.

Enhanced Connectivity

This project aligns with other roadwork projects in College Station.

With the future extension of Jones-Butler Road continuing beneath Harvey Mitchell Parkway, an additional direct path from campus will be created parallel to Wellborn Road.

The widening of Penberthy Boulevard will provide an alternate route when TxDOT construction begins on the Bush-Wellborn Crossing in 2027.
